Bo (formerly, Rambo) Smythe
1991 – 5/12/08
We are sad to report that Bo Smythe passed peacefully away
on May 12, 2008.
We adopted Bo from Kathy Nixon and the GRRCC way back in
1996. He was 5 years old at the time, though we were never quite sure of his
exact birthday. His passion for tennis balls was legendary back then and he
loved nothing more than going to the park and having us hit tennis balls as
far as we could for him to chase down. Over and over and over…
He lost his eye in 1998 and became Bo "the One-Eyed Wonder
Dog." It never really slowed him down, though, and only added to his charm.
From the moment we adopted him he was the sweetest, most obedient dog we
could have imagined. Though Kathy would hate to hear this, I never had to
put him on a leash for walks. He never left our side. He never growled at
anything or anyone. He never snapped. And when our two sons arrived in 2001
and 2003, he willingly shared us with them and was eternally patient as each
crawled all over him like a playset.
Cancer and old age finally sapped his strength and his
mobility, and even tennis balls no longer held their magical appeal. But he
lived a very long and happy life and will never be forgotten.
