Tobie

Neutered male, 47 pounds, dark golden, 2 years old

Tobie's Photos

Tobie appears to be a mini-Golden, and our best guess is that he is a Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix.  He adores all the people he meets, and will greet you with kisses and enthusiasm.  He is cute as a button, and will capture your heart.  He can sometimes be a jumper, so he would do best in a home with children 10 years and older.

Although Tobie's current owner adores him, her circumstances have changed, and Tobie now finds himself alone all day in a one bedroom apartment.  Tobie's owner knows that's not the best situation for him, and she hopes to find a new home for Tobie with a fenced yard for him to play in, and with someone who can provide Tobie with attention during the day.

Tobie seems to like other dogs, but they do not always appreciate his play style, which is "rough and tumble."  He may do best as an only dog because of this.  Cats are fair game to be chased for Tobie, so a feline-free home would be a must for him.

Tobie has been on Clomipramine for about 2 months now, as he became very stressed when his owner suddenly had to leave him alone all day.  The medication is working beautifully, and Tobie is not destructive when he is left alone.  The medication costs about one dollar a day (a bargain compared to Starbucks!), and Tobie would need to be kept on the meds if he moves into a new home.  Hopefully, once he settled in to his new environment, he could be weaned off the meds, though this would need to be done only with a veterinarian's advice and supervision.

Because Tobie does get anxious when left alone, he would do best with a stay at home or work at home person.  A compromise might be for Tobie to go to a home where someone is home at least part of the day.  Because he is an energetic young dog, he needs exercise and attention.  He loves to retrieve and run and play.  Couch potatoes need not apply for Tobie!  He walks nicely on a leash, with the aid of a Gentle Leader.

Tobie is neutered, up to date on shots, and on heartworm preventative.  Tobie's owner is committed to finding a "forever" home for her boy, though she will be very sad to see him leave.  A nominal adoption fee of $100 will be charged for Tobie.  If you are interested in meeting Tobie, please contact Wendy at 704-785-4721.
